Using the Greek poet George Sefaris’ references to the Oresteia as a starting point, a narrative unfolds through movement informed by ballet and flamenco in theatrical gestures and costumes that are inspired by Greek art and Kabuki theater. In a performance produced by Chashama in 2013, the dancers/actors take on the roles of an infamous royal family in the midst of an existential crisis. The project was further developed through site-specific video dances. The sites were chosen for their beauty and accessibility and influenced choreographic and costuming choices. In addition to the videos, many still images emerged from the project.
